Pool Maintenance
Proper upkeep of the pool with maintenance and water balance will reduce the amount of chemicals needed. The following is a weekly schedule.
Chemicals
- Test water
- Chlorine should be between 1-3 ppm/ bromine 3-6 ppm
- Fill chlorinator/brominator or check pucks in skimmer basket (be careful of fumes)
- pH should be between 7.2-7.6ppm
- If necessary add pH up to increase or pH down to decrease the levels and wait 6 hours to test water again.
- Alkalinity should be between 80-120ppm
- This prevents pH from wandering.
- Calcium should be between 150-250ppm
- This prevents corrosion and scaling.
- Chlorine should be between 1-3 ppm/ bromine 3-6 ppm
- After water is properly balanced, add Smart Shock. Add straight from bag into pool water by broadcasting it.
- Do not cover pool for 15 mins to 1 hour (read product instructions) , nor swim during this time period
- Always add chemicals to water
- Add Banish algaecide and put blanket on pool.
- No swimming for 30 minutes.
Backwashing
A backwash should occur when your pressure reading is approximately 8-10 psi higher then normal.
- Check baskets, shut off pump and turn filter handle to backwash position. Turn on pump for about 3 minute.
- Shut off pump and turn filter to rinse position. Turn on pump for 30 seconds.
- Shut off pump and turn filter back to filter position. Turn pump on.
Vacuuming Procedure
- Place vacuum into pool and fill hose with water (use return to fill).
- Place vacuum plate in skimmer and attach hose.
- After vacuuming is complete, check and empty skimmer and pump baskets.
