Hot Tub Jet Maintenance
Many hot tub owners overlook the care needed for their jets. Just like all the other components of your spa, the jets need attention from time to time to remove dirt, grime and chemical build up to provide you with the best Hydrotherapy possible.
Regular maintenance of your jets will ensure they are working as efficiently as possible, allowing you to adjust volume and pressure and keep rotating jets functioning as they were intended.
When to clean your jets:
Your hot tub jets should be cleaned a minimum of every 3 months to remove any buildup of chemicals and dirt that may have accumulated.
Although you do not need to drain the water to clean the jets, it may be good practice to clean your jets when you perform a drain and refill to your spa.

Cleaning your jets is an easy task:
- Turn off the power to the spa. (You don’t need to lower the water in the spa to remove the jet.)
- Turn the faceplate of the jet counterclockwise until you hear a little click, then you should be able to pull it straight out. (If the jet seems to be stuck, you can wear a pair or rubber gloves to provide you with a better hold on the jet.)
- Once you have the jets removed, inspect them for any damage, breakdown of plastic or cracks. This will indicate that you need or will soon need to replace the jet.
- Soak the jets in a container with water and white vinegar. (The vinegar will help to remove any minerals that are on them.)
- After giving the jet bodies a good soak, rinse them with fresh water. If the jet body has any caked-on build-up, you can use a brush to help remove the residue.
- If the jet is a rotating jet, check to make sure they are rotating. If they are not rotating, the bearings inside may be worn. If this is the case, you will need to replace the entire jet.
- Re-insert your jet into the housing and rotate it clockwise to lock it in. Be sure that you are putting the right size jet into the right size housing. (You can move the jets around to create your own hydrotherapy seat, but they must be the same size jet as the one you removed.)
Maintaining the jets in your hot tub is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of spa care. By dedicating a bit of time every few months to clean and inspect your jets, you’ll ensure that your hot tub continues to deliver optimal performance and the soothing hydrotherapy you love.
Regular jet maintenance not only extends the life of the jets themselves but also contributes to a more enjoyable and efficient hot tub experience.
Happy soaking, and here’s to many more blissful hours in your perfectly maintained hot tub!
