As we are about to start our safety month in June, I thought it would be a good idea to get a head start on safety, and what better way then with protecting our family.

At R&R Pools, we all know that our pets are our children, and they need to be kept safe. Dog life jackets are a must for any dog that loves boating or lakes or pools. Just like our children, they too can get cramps in their legs and panic.

Locating a dogs life jacket can be simple, but it is important that you know which ones are best for your furry ones.

  • Floating: Is the jacket able to support the weight of your dog
  • Movement/Comfort: Is your dog able to swim easily in the jacket?
  • Features: Is the jacket reflective and does it have handles for rescue?

Do All dogs know how to swim?

No, not all dogs know how to swim. This is a common misconception.” Some dogs do not enjoy being anywhere near water and some dogs have a problem even floating and regulating body temperature. Fear and anxiety in the water, like when a pet falls in unexpectedly, swimming abilities are not what they should be. Waves, undertows, currents can overtake the strongest swimmer. Wearing a dog life jacket may be the difference between life and death.

Some dogs live to be in the water, such as the Retrievers and Labradors, but even these “water dogs” can have trouble. Fatigue can set in, it really doesn’t matter how great of a swimmer they are.

R & R Pools believes that everyone furry or not, needs to be safe. Please drop in to the store today and keep your furry child safe along with the whole family, and stay safe and sound will enjoying your summer to the fullest.
