How to describe the pool clarity

Is your pool looking a little off? Not sure how to describe its condition? Let’s explore the differences between a cloudy pool, a hazy pool, a dull pool, and a crystal-clear pool:

Cloudy Pool

A cloudy pool appears opaque, milky, or murky, making it difficult to see the pool bottom clearly.

Common causes include:

• Poor Filtration: Inadequate filtration fails to remove small particles and debris.
• Algae Blooms: Untreated algae growth can turn water cloudy and green.
• Dead Algae: After treatment, dead algae can create white or gray particles that cloud the water.
• Imbalanced Chemistry: Incorrect pH or alkalinity levels can contribute to cloudiness.

Solution: Improve filtration, shock the pool with chlorine – if necessary.  Do not over shock the pool if the sanitizer reading is within the ideal range you don’t need to add more. Use a clarifier to coagulate particles for easier filtration.

Hazy Pool
